Jaguar I-PACE Low-Voltage Battery Guide
The Jaguar I-PACE is a fully electric performance SUV with a large high-voltage traction battery and a separate 12-volt vehicle electrical system. These batteries have entirely different functions.
This page covers only a compatible low-voltage Lucas application confirmed by the finder. It does not cover repair or replacement of the traction battery.
The High-Voltage Traction Battery
The traction battery stores energy for the electric motors, driving range and high-voltage climate components. It operates at dangerous voltage and requires specialist isolation and diagnostic equipment.
A conventional 12-volt battery must never be substituted for any part of the propulsion system.
What the 12-Volt System Does
The low-voltage system operates locks, lighting, displays and control modules. It also enables safety checks and contactors that connect the high-voltage battery when the I-PACE enters ready mode.
If low voltage is unavailable, the car can appear completely unresponsive despite having driving range stored in the traction battery.
One or More Low-Voltage Batteries
I-PACE low-voltage arrangements can vary by model year and specification, and some vehicles may use more than one 12-volt unit or support supply. The VIN and owner information should be checked before ordering.
Replacing one battery without assessing the complete arrangement can leave the original fault unresolved.
Charging the Car and Charging the 12V System
Connecting an EV charger replenishes the traction battery, but it does not restore capacity lost through age or damage in a 12-volt battery. The DC-to-DC charging path and low-voltage condition need separate testing.
Repeated low-voltage warnings should be investigated even when normal high-voltage charging completes successfully.
Software Updates Need Healthy Low Voltage
The I-PACE uses complex control software and connected systems. A low 12-volt state can prevent an update from starting or cause it to pause until sufficient charge is available.
Maintain the low-voltage system correctly before attempting large updates or diagnostic programming.
Parked Loads and Occasional Use
Telematics, alarms, keyless entry and aftermarket trackers can consume power while the vehicle is parked. Because an EV has no cranking sound, there may be little warning before the car fails to wake.
Measure shutdown current only after all modules have entered sleep mode. Opening a door or approaching with the key can restart the wake-up cycle.
Symptoms of Low 12-Volt Power
Possible signs include failed remote unlocking, dark or restarting screens, charging-port controls not responding, multiple warning messages or refusal to enter ready mode.
These symptoms also have other possible causes, so battery state, connections and DC-to-DC output should be checked before parts are replaced.
Safe Replacement and Exact Fitment
Confirm the number of low-voltage batteries, technology, dimensions, terminal layout and rating for the exact model year. Follow Jaguar's power-down sequence and keep clear of orange high-voltage components.
