Lucas Factory-Sealed and AGM Motorcycle Batteries
Lucas motorcycle batteries provide dependable starting power for compatible motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, ATVs and other powered two-wheel applications. Our online range is restricted to dispatch-approved factory-sealed batteries and sealed AGM/VRLA motorcycle batteries.
We cannot send conventional motorcycle batteries supplied dry with a separate acid pack. Products shown for online delivery must already be sealed by the manufacturer or be an approved sealed, non-spillable AGM/VRLA design. This keeps the collection straightforward while supporting safe, compliant handling and transport.
Find the correct motorcycle battery by vehicle
Motorcycle batteries can appear very similar while differing in dimensions, polarity, terminal position and starting performance. Use the motorcycle make, model, year and engine size—or a verified cross-reference from the old battery—to identify the correct Lucas option.
Before ordering, remove panels only in accordance with the motorcycle manual and record the complete reference printed on the existing battery. Compare all of the following:
- Voltage: the replacement voltage must match exactly.
- Capacity: compare the Ah rating specified for the motorcycle.
- Starting power: meet the required cold cranking performance where CCA is stated.
- Dimensions: measure length, width and total height, including the terminals.
- Polarity: confirm which side carries the positive and negative terminals.
- Terminal type: check the post, nut-and-bolt or other connection arrangement.
- Battery technology: confirm that the replacement type is approved for the motorcycle and charging system.
- Mounting position: follow the motorcycle and battery manufacturers' installation requirements.
Never force cables to reach a battery with reversed polarity and never select a replacement from Ah alone. The correct battery must fit securely beneath the original retaining strap, cover or seat without contacting surrounding components.
Which motorcycle batteries can we deliver?
We can dispatch eligible factory-sealed motorcycle batteries and sealed AGM/VRLA motorcycle batteries from this collection. These arrive already sealed and do not require the customer to handle a separate acid container.
We do not dispatch conventional batteries supplied with an acid pack that must be added after delivery. If a particular Lucas reference is available only in that format, it should not appear as an online-delivery option in this collection. Please contact us if you need help finding an eligible sealed alternative for your motorcycle.
What does factory sealed mean?
A factory-sealed motorcycle battery is activated and permanently sealed during manufacture. It is supplied as a complete battery rather than as a dry battery accompanied by a separate electrolyte pack.
Factory sealed does not mean universal fitment or that every sealed battery can be installed in any orientation. The approved operating position, ventilation, charging voltage and fitting instructions for the exact battery must still be followed.
AGM and VRLA motorcycle batteries
AGM means absorbent glass mat. The electrolyte is held within glass-fibre separators inside the battery. VRLA means valve-regulated lead-acid and describes the sealed, pressure-regulated construction used by many modern motorcycle batteries.
Sealed AGM/VRLA batteries do not require routine electrolyte top-ups. They are different from conventional flooded batteries and from lithium motorcycle batteries, so the bike's charging system and any external charger must be suitable for the replacement technology.
Can I replace a conventional motorcycle battery with AGM?
An AGM replacement may be suitable when it is explicitly cross-referenced for the motorcycle and matches the required voltage, case, polarity, terminals, capacity and starting performance. It should not be treated as an automatic upgrade solely because it is sealed.
Check the Lucas application information and the motorcycle manufacturer's requirements. Older or modified charging systems should be tested to confirm that their regulated output is appropriate for the AGM battery.
Why motorcycle battery dimensions and polarity matter
Motorcycle battery compartments are often tightly packaged. A few millimetres of additional height can prevent a seat, cover or retaining strap from fitting, while reversed terminals may leave the original cables unable to reach safely.
Measure the old battery and compare the positive-terminal position while viewing both batteries from the same side. Check clearance above the terminals to prevent accidental contact with metal bodywork, tools or the underside of the seat.
Charging a sealed motorcycle battery
Use an automatic charger or maintainer that is approved for the battery voltage, chemistry and capacity. A high-current car charger may be unsuitable for a smaller motorcycle battery. Follow the battery and charger instructions and connect with the correct polarity.
If a battery repeatedly loses charge, test the motorcycle's regulator-rectifier, alternator output, wiring and parasitic drain. A replacement battery will not resolve an underlying charging-system fault.
Motorcycle battery care during winter storage
Motorcycles left unused for weeks or months can gradually discharge through alarms, trackers, clocks and other electrical equipment. Begin storage with a fully charged battery and follow the motorcycle manufacturer's isolation and maintenance-charging guidance.
Inspect the case, terminals and cables periodically. Keep the battery protected from short circuits, moisture, extreme temperatures and physical damage. Do not attempt to open, top up or alter a factory-sealed AGM/VRLA battery.
Signs a motorcycle battery may need replacing
Slow cranking, repeated clicking from the starter relay, instruments resetting during starting or failure to retain charge can indicate deterioration. Similar symptoms can be caused by loose terminals, poor earth connections, starter problems or a charging fault.
Have the battery tested after a full compatible charge and check the motorcycle charging voltage before ordering. Stop using any battery that is swollen, cracked, leaking, excessively hot or otherwise damaged.
Find the correct Lucas motorcycle battery
Browse the dispatch-approved Lucas motorcycle batteries above and compare the verified reference, voltage, Ah, CCA, dimensions, polarity and terminals. If you are unsure, send us the motorcycle make, model, year and engine size together with photographs of the existing battery label, terminal layout and battery compartment. We will help you identify the closest suitable factory-sealed or sealed AGM/VRLA Lucas replacement available for delivery.
