Renault Kadjar Battery Selection by Engine and Drivetrain
The Renault Kadjar is a C-segment crossover sold in one main generation with several petrol, diesel, gearbox and drive combinations. Exact engine output matters more than a Dynamique, Signature, GT Line or Iconic trim badge.
Enter the registration year, fuel, gearbox and 2WD or 4WD layout above. Pre- and post-facelift cars should be separated when catalogue data overlaps.
Early 1.2 TCe Petrol Kadjar
Initial petrol Kadjars use the turbocharged 1.2 TCe 130 engine, paired with manual transmission in much of the early UK range. Its battery supports engine starting plus steering, security, R-Link and assistance modules.
Select TCe 130 and the exact year rather than any petrol crossover result. Check terminal position and the lower clamp against the original specification.
1.5 dCi and 1.6 dCi Diesel Models
Early diesel choices include 1.5 dCi 110 and 1.6 dCi 130, with greater glow-plug and cold-cranking demand than the petrol engine. The larger diesel also appears with intelligent four-wheel drive.
A diesel needs suitable CCA and healthy high-current connections. Test the starter earth if the engine remains slow after the battery is fully charged.
Later 1.3 TCe and Blue dCi Engines
Facelift ranges introduced 1.3 TCe petrol outputs and updated Blue dCi diesel choices, including 1.5 and 1.7-litre applications according to year. These should not inherit the fitment from an earlier engine.
Use the stated power output and emissions generation during lookup. Smart-charging calibration and case specification can change without an obvious exterior difference.
EDC Automatic, 4WD and Traction Controls
Selected Kadjars use EDC dual-clutch transmission, while diesel 4WD variants add Auto, Lock and 2WD drive modes. Transmission, ABS and all-wheel-drive controllers depend on stable voltage during startup.
A cluster of gearbox or traction warnings after weak cranking may share one supply event. Load-test before replacing drivetrain sensors or actuators.
Start Stop Battery Requirements
Manual Kadjars and other applicable derivatives use Start Stop with brake-energy recovery and controlled charging. The specified AGM or EFB construction must tolerate repeated cycling.
Turning automatic stopping off does not change the alternator strategy. Register or initialise the replacement battery when the vehicle procedure calls for it.
Tailgate, Panoramic Roof and Family-Crossover Use
Kadjar owners often load pushchairs, sports gear or holiday luggage with the tailgate raised, and high trims may add a panoramic roof, heated seats and multiple cameras. These systems increase parked demand.
Check boot-latch status and interior-light shutdown after loading. A rear circuit that remains awake will not be cured by selecting a larger case.
R-Link, Hands-Free Card and Added Accessories
R-Link navigation, hands-free keycards, parking aids and Bose audio add wake-up activity, while dash cameras and insurance trackers may be connected permanently by later owners.
Move keycards away from the vehicle during testing and isolate aftermarket equipment in a controlled sequence. Measure quiescent current only after all modules have settled.
Order the Exact Renault Kadjar Battery
Confirm engine, output, gearbox and 2WD or 4WD system, then match length, width, height, terminals, restraint, venting, Ah, CCA and battery chemistry. Verify charging behaviour after installation.
