Peugeot 308 Battery Selection for T7, T9 and Current Models
The Peugeot 308 covers three generations and several body styles, including hatchback, SW estate and the earlier CC coupé-cabriolet. Petrol, HDi diesel, plug-in hybrid and E-308 electric versions need separate battery matching.
Choose the model year, body, engine and transmission above. T7, T9 and the latest P5 generation overlap in used-vehicle searches, so the registration or VIN is the safest identifier.
First-Generation T7 Hatchback, SW and CC
T7 308 models were offered with VTi or THP petrol engines and 1.6 or 2.0 HDi diesels. The SW adds a long cabin, while the CC powers a folding metal roof, windows and latches from the low-voltage supply.
Include body style in the lookup and avoid repeated roof operation with the engine stopped. Diesel variants require stronger preheat and cranking performance than a similarly aged petrol car.
Second-Generation T9 PureTech and BlueHDi
The lighter T9 generation uses PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines with manual or EAT automatic transmissions. Start Stop and controlled charging became common across the range.
Retain the catalogue-specified AGM or EFB technology even if automatic stopping rarely activates. Engine output and production date separate several otherwise similar T9 applications.
308 GTi, SW Estate and High-Equipment Versions
The 308 GTi uses a high-output turbo petrol engine, while SW estates may include powered convenience equipment and spend longer with the tailgate open. Neither should be reduced to an ordinary hatchback listing.
Performance cars that sit between drives and family estates fitted with dash cameras can develop very different discharge patterns. Test the vehicle in its actual use case rather than judging by mileage alone.
Current 308 Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Systems
The latest 308 is offered with mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrains in addition to selected combustion versions. Plug-in models have a high-voltage traction battery for electric driving and a separate low-voltage network for startup control.
Mains charging does not by itself certify auxiliary-battery health. Identify Hybrid or Plug-In Hybrid exactly, then keep routine replacement work away from orange cables and traction enclosures.
E-308 and E-308 SW Auxiliary Battery
The E-308 and E-308 SW are fully electric and therefore have no conventional engine starter, but they still depend on low voltage for locking, displays, safety modules and high-voltage contactor activation.
An auxiliary replacement will not repair the propulsion battery or increase electric range. Use the complete chassis details because hatchback, estate and model-year revisions can change the service specification.
Estate Loading, Tailgate and Cabin Demand
A 308 SW may remain open while pushchairs, pets or work equipment are arranged, keeping luggage lamps and body controllers awake. Rear charging sockets, heated seats and passenger devices add further demand before departure.
Confirm every latch reports closed and use the proper running or ready state for prolonged accessory use. Repeat failure after loading can point to a tailgate circuit rather than insufficient Ah.
Connected i-Cockpit and Battery Monitoring
Later 308s combine digital i-Cockpit displays, keyless access, cameras and connected infotainment. These systems are sensitive to a clean voltage supply and may produce multiple warnings following one weak wake-up.
Load-test first, preserve diagnostic evidence and complete the specified battery-monitoring reset after fitting. Replacing modules before restoring stable voltage can waste time and money.
Confirm Your Peugeot 308 Battery
Match generation, body, engine, gearbox and electrification to the approved footprint, height, polarity, hold-down, venting, Ah, CCA and battery construction. Follow specialist isolation rules whenever high voltage is involved.
