Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Battery Selection by Powertrain
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross began in the UK as a 1.5-litre turbo petrol coupé-SUV and later gained a plug-in-hybrid version. A next-generation European model is fully electric, creating three distinct battery contexts.
Choose the production year, fuel type and drive system above. Petrol, PHEV and battery-electric Eclipse Cross vehicles must never be matched from body name alone.
1.5 Turbo Petrol and CVT Models
Original Eclipse Cross cars use a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, frequently paired with a CVT. Their low-voltage battery cranks the engine and stabilises supply for infotainment, steering and assistance systems.
Confirm 2WD or 4WD, trim and model year before comparing CCA and dimensions. A CVT description is a useful identity check but does not replace the engine code.
S-AWC Four-Wheel-Drive Versions
Equipped petrol models use Mitsubishi Super All Wheel Control to coordinate traction and stability. Its controllers need a clean voltage supply as the car wakes and performs system checks.
A cluster of S-AWC, ABS or camera warnings can follow one low-voltage event. Test the battery under load before ordering drivetrain sensors.
Eclipse Cross PHEV Auxiliary Battery
The Eclipse Cross PHEV combines a petrol engine, electric motors and a rechargeable high-voltage traction battery. A separate low-voltage source operates locks, computers and the contactors required for ready mode.
Mains charging and an EV-range display do not confirm auxiliary health. The product finder applies only to the explicitly stated low-voltage position, not the drive battery.
Next-Generation European Electric Eclipse Cross
The newer European Eclipse Cross is a 100% electric family SUV offered with different traction-battery ranges. Imported examples use an auxiliary battery even though they have no engine starter.
Use the VIN and source market because the electric generation is unrelated to the older 1.5 petrol fitment. High-voltage drive-battery work requires specialist isolation.
Connected App and Charging Wake-Ups
PHEV and electric versions can wake control units for charge scheduling, remote status and cabin preparation. Keyless entry, infotainment and third-party trackers add further parked activity.
Review schedules if repeat discharge occurs, then measure sleep current after the vehicle has fully shut down. Do not probe orange cabling during low-voltage diagnosis.
Sloping Tailgate and Cabin Loads
The Eclipse Cross tailgate and rear cabin may remain open while shopping or family equipment is arranged. Cargo lights, smartphone audio and cameras can consume reserve while the drivetrain is off.
Confirm that latch switches and interior lighting sleep after closing. A replacement battery will not cure a module kept awake by a faulty door signal.
Start Stop and Correct Chemistry
Applicable petrol versions use Start Stop and controlled charging, requiring the specified AGM or EFB technology. Disabling automatic stopping does not permit a conventional downgrade.
Match chemistry, Ah, CCA, venting and physical fit as one specification. Complete any battery-monitoring reset called for by the vehicle instructions.
Confirm the Exact Eclipse Cross Battery
Identify petrol, PHEV or EV first, then verify case footprint, terminal orientation, hold-down and approved low-voltage technology. Keep traction batteries and orange components outside ordinary replacement work.
