Peugeot 108 Battery Selection for Every City-Car Version
The Peugeot 108 is a compact city car sold with 1.0 VTi and 1.2 PureTech petrol engines, manual or ETG transmission and three- or five-door bodywork. Battery specification changes with the exact drivetrain and efficiency equipment.
Choose the registration year, engine and gearbox above before comparing products. Allure, Active, Collection and Roland Garros names help identify equipment, but trim alone does not establish the correct battery.
Peugeot 108 1.0 VTi Petrol Models
Most 108s use the light 1.0-litre VTi three-cylinder engine. Its battery cranks the engine while supplying electric steering, ABS, security and dashboard electronics during the frequent starts typical of urban use.
A small engine does not mean any compact battery will fit. Check case footprint, height, positive-terminal side and lower retaining ledge against the catalogue result and the original unit.
Peugeot 108 1.2 PureTech Variants
Selected early 108 ranges include the larger 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, which is a distinct application from the 1.0 VTi. Production date and engine identification should be recorded before ordering.
Do not transfer a battery recommendation because both cars share the same body shell. Required cold-cranking output and electrical management can differ even when the tray looks familiar.
ETG Automated Manual Transmission
The five-speed ETG version uses an automated manual gearbox with electronic actuators rather than a conventional torque-converter automatic. Stable voltage is important while the transmission selects neutral and completes its startup checks.
If gear selection becomes erratic after a weak start, test the supply and charging system before assuming the actuator has failed. Select ETG explicitly in the vehicle finder.
Start Stop and e-VTi Battery Technology
Applicable 108 models use Start Stop to reduce idling and may be described as e-VTi in earlier specifications. Repeated engine cycles require the approved EFB or AGM construction where the catalogue specifies it.
Automatic stopping can be inhibited by low charge, cabin demand or temperature. Its absence is not permission to fit a basic flooded battery or evidence of one single fault.
TOP! Fabric Roof and Door Configuration
The 108 TOP! adds an electrically operated fabric roof, while three- and five-door cars have different patterns of courtesy-light and window use. Roof movement draws a concentrated amount of current from the low-voltage system.
Operate the roof with the engine running when practical and avoid repeated cycling during diagnosis. Check that roof, door and tailgate switches allow the body electronics to enter sleep mode.
Short Journeys, Demisters and Winter City Use
A 108 may cover only a few miles between cold starts while headlights, heated rear glass, blower motor and phone charging remain active. This can create an energy deficit despite apparently normal annual mileage.
Measure state of charge separately from state of health. A sound but depleted unit may respond to controlled charging, whereas low capacity under load calls for replacement.
Touchscreen, Keyless Equipment and Added Devices
Higher-specification 108s can include touchscreen connectivity, reversing camera and keyless entry. Owner-installed dash cameras, USB adaptors or insurance trackers represent a significant parked load relative to a city-car battery.
Disconnect non-factory equipment methodically if charge disappears overnight. Wait for the vehicle network to settle before measuring quiescent current at the battery.
Confirm the Exact Peugeot 108 Battery
Match 1.0 VTi or 1.2 PureTech, transmission and Start Stop status to the approved dimensions, polarity, hold-down, venting, Ah, CCA and chemistry. Confirm the roof is closed and stored settings are protected before disconnection.
