Lexus NX Battery Selection by Powertrain
The Lexus NX has been offered with turbo petrol, self-charging hybrid and plug-in-hybrid power. NX 200t, NX 300, NX 300h, NX 350h and NX 450h+ variants do not all use the same low-voltage arrangement.
Select the model year, complete designation and drive type above. Premium, F Sport and Takumi grades alter equipment but are not sufficient fitment identifiers.
NX 200t and NX 300 Petrol Versions
Turbo petrol NX models use a conventional engine-starting duty that differs from the hybrid range. Some are imports or less common UK applications, making the VIN useful when catalogue data is limited.
Match case, polarity, capacity and CCA to the exact petrol derivative. Do not substitute an NX 300h auxiliary-battery recommendation.
First-Generation NX 300h Hybrid
The NX 300h combines a petrol engine, electric motors and a high-voltage hybrid battery. A separate low-voltage supply activates the control systems and body electronics before ready mode.
A charged traction battery does not guarantee the auxiliary battery can maintain wake-up voltage. The two components need different tests and replacement procedures.
Second-Generation NX 350h
The NX 350h uses a newer self-charging hybrid system with more connected cabin and driver-assistance technology. Its battery selection should be based on the second-generation vehicle rather than copied from an NX 300h.
Front- and all-wheel-drive hybrid specifications can also differ. Include AWD status in the application search.
NX 450h+ Plug-In Hybrid Systems
The NX 450h+ carries a larger traction battery that can be charged from the mains, while low voltage still operates locks, computers and high-voltage contactors. Plug-in charging alone does not prove auxiliary health.
A Lucas listing applies only to an explicitly confirmed low-voltage position. Never use ordinary battery guidance on the high-voltage PHEV pack.
Tailgate, Cabin and Family Loads
Powered tailgates, heated or ventilated seats, climate systems and large multimedia displays can remain active during loading. Repeated short urban trips may provide little time for the low-voltage system to recover.
Avoid leaving accessories on in an unsuitable power mode. If discharge repeats, test charging behaviour rather than assuming a larger battery is the answer.
AWD, Towing and Accessory Wiring
AWD-i systems, cameras and trailer electronics all rely on stable control voltage. Caravan charging circuits and aftermarket equipment must isolate correctly after parking.
If an NX becomes discharged after towing, inspect the trailer connection independently. A permanent external feed can flatten a healthy battery.
NX Low-Voltage Warning Signs
Possible signs include weak smart entry, a rebooting display, multiple safety alerts, tailgate refusal or failure to show ready mode. Hybrid-system warnings triggered by low voltage may not represent a traction fault.
Test the auxiliary source under load and read stored codes before replacing modules. Verify the DC-to-DC converter or alternator path appropriate to the powertrain.
Confirm Your Exact NX Battery
Check dimensions, terminal position, clamp, venting, capacity and specified chemistry. Follow the correct power-down process and complete any required monitoring setup.
