Choose the Correct Range Rover Evoque Battery
The Range Rover Evoque has two main generations, L538 and L551, with petrol, eD4, TD4, SD4 and Ingenium engines plus later mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid systems. The battery must be selected by year and powertrain rather than appearance.

First-Generation L538 Diesel Options
Early Evoques include eD4, TD4 and SD4 diesel variants with differing outputs and two- or four-wheel drive. Glow-plug operation and frequent urban starts make correct CCA important even in this compact SUV.
A manual two-wheel-drive car may not share its battery with an automatic AWD model. Confirm the precise derivative and factory Start Stop equipment.
Ingenium Engines and L551 Electronics
Later Evoques use Ingenium petrol and diesel engines alongside more extensive driver assistance, connected infotainment and keyless functions. These modules begin drawing power as the vehicle wakes.
A battery can still turn the engine yet allow voltage to collapse far enough to reset displays or trigger camera and parking warnings. Test it under load.
Evoque Mild-Hybrid Architecture
Mild-hybrid models use a 48-volt system to recover and redeploy energy while retaining low-voltage circuits for body functions. The hybrid battery and ordinary low-voltage unit have different service requirements.
Do not order by the word hybrid alone. Identify the voltage, location and task of the failed component with vehicle-specific diagnostics.
PHEV Evoque Battery Distinctions
A plug-in Evoque carries a rechargeable traction battery for electric driving and a separate low-voltage supply for unlocking, control modules and ready-mode activation. Full traction charge does not rule out a low-voltage problem.
A Lucas result is for a confirmed auxiliary or starter position only. High-voltage parts require specialist isolation and are outside normal car-battery replacement.
Convertible and High-Equipment Models
The first-generation Evoque Convertible adds a powered roof, windows and latching mechanisms that can consume substantial current while stationary. High-specification fixed-roof cars can add powered tailgates, heated seats and premium audio.
Avoid repeated roof or tailgate operation with the engine stopped. A Convertible should be identified explicitly rather than matched from a standard L538 body.
Short Trips, Keyless Entry and Parked Demand
Evoques often work as city commuters, combining brief journeys with heated screens, climate control and repeated keyless wake-ups. The alternator may not recover all the energy used at each start.
Trackers and dash cameras can add continuous load. If discharge returns after charging, perform a shutdown-current test once the vehicle has fully entered sleep mode.
Start Stop Battery Technology
Combustion Evoques with Start Stop commonly require AGM or EFB construction and may use an additional support arrangement depending on year. The original technology should not be downgraded.
After installation, applicable vehicles need battery registration or a battery-monitoring reset. This allows the intelligent charging strategy to manage the replacement correctly.

Check dimensions, clamp, polarity, venting, Ah, CCA and AGM or EFB type. Include L538 or L551 generation, AWD status, Convertible body and hybrid type in the selection.
