Fiat 500X Battery Finder

The Fiat 500X is a compact crossover offered with petrol, diesel, front-wheel-drive, four-wheel-drive and hybrid powertrains. Its larger body and advanced electrical systems mean it should not be matched using battery information for the smaller Fiat 500.

Enter the year, engine and fuel type above to see the appropriate Lucas battery. The finder separates MultiAir, FireFly and MultiJet versions as well as revisions introduced during the 500X's production life.

500X Petrol Engine Options

Petrol versions include MultiAir and later FireFly-family engines in several capacities and outputs. Some use manual transmission, while others are paired with dual-clutch or conventional automatic gearboxes.

The engine description and year are both required because Start Stop and charging specifications can differ between apparently similar petrol models.

MultiJet Diesel and 4x4 Models

MultiJet diesels need sufficient cold-cranking output to operate the glow plugs and turn the engine reliably. The larger diesel and four-wheel-drive versions can use different battery capacities from a front-wheel-drive petrol 500X.

The Cross or 4x4 badge does not identify one universal battery. Select the complete engine and drivetrain information shown in the finder.

Why Stable Voltage Matters on a 500X

The 500X uses electronic controls for its parking brake, drive modes, transmission, Uconnect infotainment and driver-assistance systems. These modules carry out checks as soon as the vehicle is unlocked and switched on.

A deteriorating battery can therefore cause several apparently unrelated warnings during startup. Start Stop may become unavailable, the electronic parking brake may report a temporary fault or the infotainment system may restart.

EFB and AGM Battery Technology

Most Start Stop 500X applications require an enhanced EFB or AGM battery. These units provide the cycling ability and charge acceptance needed by the vehicle's energy-management strategy.

Keep the technology shown on the original battery. AGM cannot be downgraded, while EFB should receive an equivalent replacement or an approved AGM upgrade with the right physical and electrical specification.

Fiat 500X Hybrid Batteries

Hybrid versions contain additional electrified components alongside their normal low-voltage network. The 12-volt battery continues to support locks, lighting, computers and vehicle activation.

Do not confuse the low-voltage replacement with a higher-voltage hybrid battery. If the vehicle contains more than one battery system, establish which unit has failed before ordering.

Short Journeys in a Crossover

A 500X used mainly for school runs and urban commuting can spend more energy on starting, heating, demisting and electronic equipment than a brief journey restores. This repeated partial charge can shorten battery life.

A longer journey or appropriate maintenance charger can help a low-mileage vehicle. If charge continues disappearing while parked, test for an unwanted current draw.

Battery Size and Diagnostic Setup

Confirm the original case dimensions, base clamp and terminal orientation before fitting. The chosen battery must also meet the specified Ah and CCA figures for the engine.

Applicable 500X models may require the new battery to be registered or adapted through diagnostic equipment. This allows the charging system to recognise the replacement and discard information associated with the worn unit.

Check Before Buying

Do not use a Fiat 500 or 500L recommendation unless the 500X application is explicitly confirmed. Visit the Fiat batteries page or compare our separate Fiat 500 battery guide.

If your 500X is a Cross, 4x4, automatic or hybrid and the specification is unclear, send the registration through live chat for a model-specific check.

HELP & ADVICE

Fiat 500 battery FAQs

How do I find the correct Fiat 500 battery?

Select the year, engine and fuel type in the finder above. Then compare the recommended battery dimensions, terminal layout and hold-down with the battery currently fitted.

Does my Fiat 500 need an AGM battery?

Some versions use AGM, particularly vehicles with Start/Stop, regenerative charging or higher electrical demand. Always replace AGM with AGM and do not downgrade the technology.

Can I replace an EFB battery with AGM?

An AGM upgrade may be suitable where the physical size, terminal layout and vehicle charging requirements are correct. Do not replace an AGM battery with EFB or standard technology.

Do I need to register the new battery?

Some vehicles use battery monitoring and energy-management systems that require the new battery to be registered or coded. Check the vehicle handbook or seek professional advice.

How long should a Fiat 500 battery last?

Battery life varies with journey type, temperature, electrical demand and charging condition. Frequent short trips and long periods without use can reduce service life.
