Dacia Logan Battery Finder

The Dacia Logan has been produced as a saloon and a practical MCV estate, with petrol, diesel and LPG powertrains offered across different markets and generations. The correct battery depends on the engine, production year and whether Start Stop is fitted.

Enter the Logan’s complete vehicle details into our finder to see compatible Lucas batteries. This prevents an early imported model from being confused with a later UK-market Logan MCV.

Logan Petrol Engine Batteries

Petrol engines used across the Logan range include naturally aspirated and turbocharged applications. These can include 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0 SCe and 0.9 TCe versions.

An SCe and TCe engine may have a similar capacity but different starting and energy-management requirements. Start Stop equipment can also change the required battery technology.

Logan dCi Diesel Batteries

The 1.5 dCi diesel needs sufficient cold-cranking output to power its glow plugs and turn the engine reliably. Battery performance becomes especially important during winter or after the vehicle has remained parked.

A smaller petrol battery may fit within the same general space but fail to provide the CCA required by the diesel engine. Always use the application listed for the dCi version.

LPG and Bi-Fuel Logan Models

Some Logan models can operate using petrol or LPG. These vehicles still use one conventional low-voltage battery for engine starting and onboard electronics.

Select the LPG or Bi-Fuel engine description where it appears because its engine-management specification can differ from a standard petrol Logan.

Estate-Car Electrical Use

The Logan MCV is commonly used as a family estate, taxi or practical work vehicle. Frequent use of the tailgate, interior lighting, phone charging and navigation can draw power while the engine is switched off.

Vehicles used for repeated short journeys may not give the alternator enough time to replenish this energy. The resulting undercharge can shorten battery life without an obvious fault in the charging system.

Standard and Start Stop Batteries

Older Logan models without Start Stop commonly use a conventional lead-acid starter battery. Later TCe and dCi versions may require an enhanced EFB or AGM battery.

Read the battery technology shown on the fitted unit. An EFB or AGM application must not be downgraded to a standard battery, even if the alternative has matching dimensions.

Older and Imported Dacia Logans

An imported Logan may have an engine or electrical specification not commonly found on UK vehicles. Some overseas examples may also be registered under a different manufacturer name.

Check the registration document and chassis details before ordering. Do not rely entirely on body shape or a replacement battery fitted by a previous owner.

Signs the Logan Battery Is Deteriorating

Warning signs can include slower starting, Start Stop remaining unavailable, the clock or media system resetting and central locking becoming inconsistent.

If the battery repeatedly becomes discharged, test the alternator and check for accessories such as trackers or dash cameras that continue operating after the vehicle is locked.

Physical Battery Fitment

The replacement must match the Logan’s battery tray, base clamp and positive terminal position. Check its length, width and height so it can be secured without interfering with cables or surrounding components.

The Ah capacity, CCA output and internal technology must also meet the engine’s requirements. Correct physical size alone does not make a battery suitable.

Battery Monitoring and Replacement

Applicable later Start Stop models use battery monitoring as part of their charging strategy. A reset or diagnostic adaptation may be needed after installing the replacement.

This allows the charging system to recognise the new battery and manage it according to its capacity, construction and condition.

Confirm Your Dacia Logan Battery

Check whether the vehicle is a Logan Saloon, Logan MCV or Logan MCV Stepway, then compare the finder result with the battery already installed.

If the model is imported or its TCe, SCe, dCi or LPG engine cannot be confirmed, send the registration through live chat and we will help identify the correct Lucas battery.

HELP & ADVICE

Dacia Logan battery FAQs

How do I find the correct Dacia Logan battery?

Select the year, engine and fuel type in the finder above. Then compare the recommended battery dimensions, terminal layout and hold-down with the battery currently fitted.

Does my Dacia Logan need an AGM battery?

Some versions use AGM, particularly vehicles with Start/Stop, regenerative charging or higher electrical demand. Always replace AGM with AGM and do not downgrade the technology.

Can I replace an EFB battery with AGM?

An AGM upgrade may be suitable where the physical size, terminal layout and vehicle charging requirements are correct. Do not replace an AGM battery with EFB or standard technology.

Do I need to register the new battery?

Some vehicles use battery monitoring and energy-management systems that require the new battery to be registered or coded. Check the vehicle handbook or seek professional advice.

How long should a Dacia Logan battery last?

Battery life varies with journey type, temperature, electrical demand and charging condition. Frequent short trips and long periods without use can reduce service life.
